We have used the best 2 positions out of the last 3 regattas to determine a suggested seeding for the 2004 season. Followed by everyone else sorted by their last race. If you do not race, you will not maintain your seeding!

Philosophy:

As described in the Discussion Article: 'Qualification for Finals at NWSC Regattas' the 200m racing at Nottingham (UK) Regattas do not have Heats and Finals, rather straight Finals.

For the 2004 Racing Season, the K1/C1 200m event is an Open Category, allowing everyone to race together. In order to make a structured approach to racing, each final will be seeded, based upon the research carried out by 200m.info.

Our approach is to use the best 2 out of the last 3 finishing positions to sort people into a suitable ranking. Previously this left everyone beyond this being entered at random, however, to make things a little more race like, below the 'proper' ranking system, everyone else has been ranked by their 'last' performance (from 2003 onwards). Although their will be some overlap, this should at least provide for better racing at that break point. Below this, people will be added at random.

The Best 2 of 3 is designed to promote participation in 200m racing, so to avoid becoming unranked, you need to race the event regularly.

We believe the only exceptions to this will be for World Class Performance paddlers wishing to race, where the National Coach will be able to enter them into the correct positions for selection purposes. It is hoped however that this will be after discussions with 200m.info, to ensure that they are in the best place possible.

There may also be need to 'manually' adjust newcomers to the scene, if their performances prove to be far higher than their un-ranked position. This would not take effect until the following regatta.

At this time, K2 and K4 will still run in divisions, but we will advise if this changes. We are ever hopeful that the K4 200m listed for Mens A, will be open for anyone to enter into.

In the below links you will see everyones position (based upon time) for each regatta, and the ranking associated with them for that regatta, and then the Seedings for 2004

Please have a look to see where you are and most importantly provide feed back for future work! WM
