Over the years we have had many paddlers involved in events such as the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race, Regional Hasler Marathon Events and National Level Regattas at Nottingham.

Racing falls into two categories: Sprint and Marathon

Sprint:

This is the Olympic discipline in Kayak and Canoe and is raced in lanes over distances of 500 & 1000 metres.

Internationally and Nationally the distances vary with the addition of 200 meters, being the shortest and 5000 metres the longest. The races are all open to singles, pairs and fours both Kayak and Canoe

Marathon:

As the name suggests, races do take place over marathon distance of 26.2 miles. This distance is generally reserved for international events.

Nationally the Marathon system is divided into nine Divisions, dependant on an individuals ability. You are then promoted up or down on your race results. as you improve and are promoted the distance raced increases from four miles, for divisions 7,8,9. Eight miles for 4,5,6 and twelve miles for 1,2,3.

There are other epic marathons: Devizes to Westminster 125 miles, Leeds to Liverpool 128 miles, Cheshire Ring 95 miles. These have a variety of classes allowing singles and doubles either non-stop or team relays.
